Employment Opportunities

Learning guides: 

--Plan, prepare, purchase supplies/resources from assigned budget, and teach selected and assigned courses for students in a variety of subjects, topics, and styles that fit with the  information about the Mighty Roots Academy program (See Mission & Philosophy, Goals & Aims & Policies & Procedures below)

       -Preparation takes place outside of the Mighty Roots Academy day as fits their personal schedule. 

       -Directors will assist Learning Guides as they select teaching resources for courses, but a set curriculum with each class is not mandated. 

       -Some classes may have pre-selected resources and/or required material/topics to be covered according to the course description. 

       -Lesson plans are developed by the learning guide based on the individual needs and interests of their students.   

--Offer extension activities for home use, but do not assign homework or grades.    

--May teach course for one or more of the following programs:    

          *Homeschool Academy: Tuesdays and Thursdays- 30 weeks/10 months   

          *Creative Options: Wednesdays- 30 weeks/10 months   

          *Discovery Days: Mondays- 10-week sessions - Fall and Spring

--Are paid a set amount for a day of teaching. Paid monthly on the 5th for classes taught the of the previous month through the 15th of the current month.   

           *New learning guides or learning guides teaching in only one program    

                +$85 -100 per day (5.5 hours);    

                +$30 -35 per half day (2 hours)   

                +Experienced learning guides teaching multiple programs may be allowed to start at a higher rate of pay.   

                +Consideration may be given to learning guides who are only interested in teaching a specific courses. IE. Dance, Theater, Robotics, College Prep.   

                +Are contracted as employees for the entire program year.   

                +Are given 1 paid sick day per number of days a week you teach if full day employees.   

--Students of learning guides are given placement in the program for which the learning guide is teaching if the learning guide chooses and the student meets the program criteria. Because of our organizational status as a 501c3 organization we are not allowed to give tuition discounts to learning guide families. Families may apply for discounts as they meet the requirements and funds are available.   

--Use an assigned messaging app to communicate with parents, give updates on courses, send course communications.    

--Participate in Teacher Orientation and Back To School Day (see calendar July/August)   

--May be required to complete First Aid/CPR training paid for by Mighty Roots Academy   

--MUST complete a background check and Mandated Reporter Training   

--May be asked to attend parent meetings or Mighty Roots Academy events.
